Mersey Square, Stockport
Directly appointed to deliver an ambitious concept design for a major public space in Stockport, SB-LA is working with SMBC to develop play spaces, active travel and urban greening to the centre of town.
As the project moves into Detailed Design, these concepts will be developed for the complex interfaces around the site.

Google Headquarters, London
With the Gillespies team, Sam has been involved in the roof garden and public realm for Google’s new HQ in King’s Cross, a 300m long podium over 5 different levels, incorporating terraces, amphitheatres, lawns, tree planting, a running track, and an elevated walkway.
Public realm space at ground floor outside King’s Cross Railway Station includes tree planting and a bespoke cuved timber terrace seating area.
Since 2022 Sam was instrumental in seeing through the delivery; managing site, and resolving design queries for this unique landmark scheme.

Bicester Village and St Edburg’s Park
Collaborating with BMD, Sam has been project managing the Stage 4 / Stage 5 process of a prestigious retail development at Bicester Village.
This includes an extension to the village and a new public park for local residents to use.

Charles Street, Manchester
Jadebricks, alongside Simson Haugh Architects are delivering a PBSA scheme on Charles Street and approached SB-LA to deliver the technically challenging winter garden space at the building entrance.
Developing the concept design through to Stage 4 for Gateway 2 submission, SB-LA has collaborated with the design team and contractor team to deliver a buildable and compliant landscape with indoor planting, natural stone paving and social seating areas.

Pryme Street, Hull
Appointed to deliver a new pocket park on Pryme Street as part of Hull City Centre’s transport improvements, SB-LA has transformed a compact urban footprint into a flourishing green sanctuary.
Through multi-functional design principles including rain gardens, tree planting, and integrated seating, the scheme creates an inviting space for the community to enjoy while establishing vital habitats for local wildlife.

Stockport Interchange
Undertaken whilst at Gillespies LLP
Stockport Interchange (Viaduct Park), is an multi-award winning project which incorporated a wide variety of truly beneficial elements into the town centre.
Including over 1km of segregated cycle routes, walking routes, open green space, flexible event space, and SUDs features, the design aims to bring people to the interchange, greenery into the town and revitalise a forgotten part of the locality.
Sam was the lead landscape architect for the scheme and worked closely with Wilmott Dixon, TfGM and Stockport Council to ensure a hugely successful development for the people of Stockport.

The Junction, Leeds
Undertaken whilst at Ares Landscape Architects
The Junction scheme is a visionary, award winning £100m BtR development in Leeds City Centre which provides 5 residential blocks along with an incredible elevated park on the top of a Victorian viaduct.
With involvement from the outset, Sam was the lead landscape architect with a role in managing the project , obtaining planning permission and ensuring successful delivery.
