Charles Street Winter Gardens

Jadebricks have appointed SB-LA to develop the detailed design for a winter garden at the Charles Street development in Manchester. This will form the main entrance and arrival space into the Purpose-built Student Accomodation in the heart of the city centre.

Our role was to develop the concept design provided by the Architect and Interior designer, into a buildable, workable solution. Compounding factors typical of internal gardens made the design and plant selection unusual and therefore we undertook extensive research to explore the various plant species that would be best for the space.

The space also forms a key element for the Gateway 2 submission. SB-LA have worked closely with the Principal Designer to ensure the Building Safety Regulator have all the evidence required to meet building regulations, fire compliance and and access control.

Technical coordination was paramount to the success of this design, and we have worked closely with the design team and contractor to develop the design, work with the site levels and deliver a planting scheme which meets the challenging conditions.

All of our documentation was produced in Revit and Digital Media
